Technology enhances our lives in numerous ways, and dentistry is no exception. Dr. Booth embraces the latest evidence-based technology to improve the care we provide to our patients. Here you will find some of the modern technology we use below. By combining high-tech dentistry with exceptional patient care, we provide an elevated patient experience to support your health and smile goals.
Digital X-Rays and Sensors
At Doug Booth, D.D.S. in Huntsville, we use digital x-rays and sensors to capture clear, detailed images with minimal radiation exposure. This leading-edge technology allows us to diagnose issues early and accurately, often before you feel any symptoms.
Digital imaging is faster and more comfortable than old-timey film x-rays. The sensors are smaller, and your images appear instantly on screen, allowing us to review them with you during your visit.
These high-resolution images help us detect cavities, bone loss, infections, and other concerns with precision. Because they’re digital, they’re also easier to store, share, and enhance if needed.
Fotona Lightwalker Laser
The Fotona LightWalker laser allows Dr. Booth to perform a wide range of dental treatments with greater precision and comfort. This world-class laser system can be used for treating cavities, gum disease, and certain soft tissue procedures, often with minimal or no need for anesthesia.
Because the laser is so precise, it minimizes the impact on surrounding tissue, which can reduce pain, bleeding, and the time required for healing. Patients often find laser treatments more comfortable than traditional methods, particularly when it comes to treating gum disease or removing decay.
The LightWalker is also ideal for patients with dental anxiety. It operates quietly and gently, providing a more relaxed overall experience.
We invest in technology like the LightWalker laser because it enables us to provide care that is both effective and gentle for you.
CBCT Cone Beam Technology
CBCT (Cone Beam Computed Tomography) allows Dr. Booth to capture 3-D images of your teeth, jaw, nerves, and sinuses with remarkable clarity. This advanced imaging tool is a crucial component in planning complex procedures, such as dental implants, root canals, and TMJ treatments.
Unlike traditional x-rays, CBCT scans provide a comprehensive, three-dimensional view, enabling us to detect issues that might be missed in two-dimensional images. The process is quick, non-invasive, and performed right here in our Huntsville office.
With this modern image technology, we can diagnose with greater accuracy and plan treatments that are safer, more efficient, and tailored to your needs. It also helps us explain your condition more clearly, so you feel informed and confident about your care.
Panoramic X-Rays
Panoramic x-rays enable Dr. Booth to capture a full view of your mouth in a single image. This wide-angle view shows your teeth, jawbones, sinuses, and surrounding structures, giving us a comprehensive understanding of your oral health.
This type of x-ray is especially useful for evaluating wisdom teeth, detecting jaw problems, planning dental implants, and identifying hidden issues such as cysts or infections. The process is quick, comfortable, and non-invasive. You simply stand still while the machine gently rotates around your head.
Panoramic imaging provides valuable insight with less radiation than a full set of traditional dental x-rays. It also helps us plan your treatment more effectively and catch concerns early.
CEREC Same-Day Restorations
With CEREC CAD/CAM technology, Dr. Booth can design, craft, and place high-quality ceramic crowns and restorations in just one visit. There’s no need for messy impressions, temporary crowns, or waiting weeks for a lab because everything is done right here in our Huntsville dental office.
Using digital scanning and computer-aided design, we create a precise 3-D model of your tooth. Your custom restoration is then milled on-site from durable, tooth-colored ceramic and bonded the same day.
CEREC restorations are not only fast but also long-lasting and beautifully natural in appearance. They’re carefully matched to your existing teeth for a seamless look and feel.
This modern approach means fewer appointments, faster results, and less time away from your busy schedule.
CEREC makes restorative dentistry more convenient, efficient, and comfortable without compromising on quality.
Digital Impressions
We use digital impressions to replace the old, uncomfortable method of taking molds with sticky trays. This modern technique uses a small handheld scanner to create a precise 3-D image of your teeth and gums in just minutes.
Digital impressions are faster, cleaner, and far more comfortable for patients. There’s no need to bite down on goopy material or wait for it to set. The scan is quick and accurate, and the digital model is available immediately for review.
This technology improves the fit and quality of crowns, bridges, Invisalign aligners, and other custom dental work. It also allows us to share information instantly with dental labs when needed.
VELscope
VELscope is an advanced screening tool we use at Doug Booth, D.D.S., to help detect oral abnormalities that may not be visible to the naked eye. It uses a special blue light to highlight changes in soft tissue, making it easier to identify early signs of oral cancer or other concerns.
This quick, non-invasive exam is completely painless and takes only a few minutes during your regular dental visit. Early detection is crucial when it comes to treating serious conditions, and VELscope enables us to identify potential issues before they become more complex.
We include VELscope screenings as part of our commitment to comprehensive, preventive care. It’s one more way we prioritize your overall health, not just your teeth.
If you have questions about oral cancer screenings, we’re always here to help.
Rotary Endodontics
Rotary endodontics is a modern technique Dr. Booth uses to perform root canal treatments with greater precision, comfort, and efficiency. Instead of using traditional hand files, we use a small electric tool with a flexible nickel-titanium tip that can clean and shape the root canals more effectively.
This technology enables smoother, more consistent results and often reduces the time spent in the chair. It also reduces the risk of complications and helps preserve more of your natural tooth structure.
Patients often find rotary endodontic procedures more comfortable, with less vibration and noise than older methods. At Doug Booth, D.D.S., we use this technology to improve both the quality of care and the overall patient experience.
If you need a root canal, you can feel confident knowing you're being treated with advanced, trusted tools in skilled hands.
Nitrous Oxide Sedation
Nitrous oxide, also known as laughing gas, is a safe and effective way to help you feel calm and relaxed during dental treatment. We offer nitrous oxide sedation to patients who feel anxious, nervous, or simply want a more comfortable experience.
The gas is inhaled through a small nose mask and begins working within minutes. You’ll remain awake and able to communicate, but you may feel lighter, more at ease, and less aware of the procedure taking place.
Once treatment is complete, the effects wear off quickly, and you’ll be able to return to your normal routine right away.
Digital Records
We use secure digital records to manage your dental history, treatment plans, and images with accuracy and efficiency. This technology helps us stay organized and ensures that your information is always up to date.
Digital records enable our team to easily access and review your dental history, whether we're planning a procedure or tracking your progress over time. They also enable seamless communication with specialists or laboratories when needed.
Because your records are stored electronically, they are easier to protect, back up, and share securely. There’s no risk of misplaced paper charts or delays in accessing important information.
This modern system supports our commitment to organized, responsive care that puts your needs first.
NightLase Sleep Laser
NightLase is a non-invasive laser treatment that helps reduce snoring and improve sleep quality by gently tightening the soft tissues at the back of the throat. The treatment works by stimulating collagen production in the airway tissues, thereby reducing airway collapse during sleep. There’s no cutting, no anesthesia, and no downtime; most patients return to normal activities immediately after the procedure.
NightLase can be a great option for patients who snore or experience mild to moderate sleep apnea but want to avoid bulky oral appliances or surgery.
If your sleep (or your partner’s) is being disrupted by snoring, ask us if NightLase could be the right solution. A simple, comfortable treatment may help you sleep more easily and breathe better.
3-D Printer
In our modern dental office, a 3-D printer plays a key role in creating precise, custom, same-day dental restorations such as crowns, bridges, and veneers. Using digital scans of a patient’s mouth, we can design highly accurate models on a computer. This digital file is then sent to the 3-D printer, which builds the restoration layer by layer using durable, biocompatible materials. The result is a custom-fit restoration that matches the shape and color of your natural teeth. This advanced technology allows for faster turnaround times, greater accuracy, and improved comfort compared to traditional methods.
